Revised Library Opening Hours

Leeton’s Major Dooley Library will operate under revised opening hours as a six-month trial commencing Monday 26 September 2022.
This is part of a move to enhance Council’s Library service to the community through ways that best suit patron needs.
The new Library operating hours will be Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm (8 hours) and Saturday 9am to 12noon (3 hours).
Council’s Manager Visitor Services and Activation, Mr Brent Lawrence, said the revised hours opening hours will see the Leeton Shire Library open 43 hours per week, up from the previous 40 hours per week which is an excellent result for the community.
“Looking at visitor statistics, there is high attendance at the current opening time of 10am,” said Mr Lawrence.
“There is regularly a queue of people waiting to access the library and opening at 9.30am daily will provide more timely access for patrons.
“Extending the closing time until 5.30pm will also provide patrons with regular after-hours access throughout the week,” he said.
Council will no longer be offering late Thursday evenings, with numbers extremely low in recent years.
“Our Library team members is focused on providing high quality customer service and increased activities/programs to patrons at times that best suit them. We welcome feedback from members of the community and regular users of the library,” said Mr Lawrence.
A further report will be presented to Council at its March 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting to review results from the revised opening hours trial.
