New Online Planning Portal to be Used from 1 July 2021
Published on 28 May 2021
From 1 July 2021, all Development Applications and the majority of post consent certificate applications (e.g. construction certificates) must be submitted online through the NSW Planning Portal at www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au
The NSW Planning Portal is a digital space where community, industry and government are working together to better understand and meet their obligations under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
Council’s Manager Planning, Building and Health, Francois Van Der Berg, said the Portal provides a single site to go to for planning processes and transactions online that is simpler, faster and more transparent for everyone.
“The new online portal enables people to access planning services and information from anywhere, at any time. The system is much more convenient than the paper-based transactions, with applicants being able to submit and track their applications 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Council is excited about the introduction of the NSW Planning Portal by the NSW Government which is set to improve application determination times, increase the transparency of the planning system and ensure greater accountability of all stakeholders,” he said.
For anyone wanting to know more about the Portal or requiring assistance to use the Portal, Council will be hosting information sessions on two separate occasions:
-
Wednesday 9 June 2021, 5.30pm–6.30pm, Council Chambers, 23–25 Chelmsford Place Leeton
-
Friday 18 June 2021, 11am–1pm, Council Chambers, 23–25 Chelmsford Place Leeton
Bookings to either of the sessions are required due to COVID-19 regulations and can be made by emailing Karen Thomson karent@leeton.nsw.gov.au or by telephoning 6953 0927 with your name and the session you would like to attend.
To begin using the NSW Planning Portal, applicants must first register for a NSW Planning Portal account to start their application and receive a single secure login.
The portal contains a comprehensive collection of resources that can also assist applicants and developers – including Quick Reference Guides, fact sheets, useful links and more.
Francois Van Der Berg is also available to speak with anyone requiring more information or help. Please phone 02 6953 0911 or call into the Council office in Chelmsford Place.
