Leeton Shire Library Revamped Thanks to State Library Grants

Council is delighted to announce the successful completion of major upgrades at the Leeton Shire Library, made possible through two State Library grants. The improvements are part of the "Revamp and Renew: Library Transformation” project, which aims to create a modern and welcoming space for all community members.

Thanks to a $57,780 State Library Grant, the library has undergone a major floor cover transformation led by the replacement of all carpeted areas. In addition, the verandah now features stylish and durable vinyl planks. These upgrades not only enhance the aesthetics of the library but also contribute to a more comfortable and inviting environment for patrons.

A Local Priority Grant of $19,680 (also facilitated by the State Library of NSW) has funded several additional enhancements, including the installation of six felt noticeboards, new shelving in the children's area, 60 brand new chairs, a new glass cabinet for the Lego Club and new blinds in the youth area. Further, the verandah received a fresh lick of paint, further transforming the library's interior.

Library Supervisor Rachel Cody, who was instrumental in securing the grants, said her team was extremely pleased with the additions.

"We are very grateful to the State Library for their generous support. These improvements not only visually transform the interior but also add to the overall functionality and comfort of our spaces. Our goal is to create a library that is a welcoming hub for the community, and these upgrades are a big step in that direction," she said.

The new upgrades follow on from last year’s Technology and Community Hub Enhancement Project which saw the installation of 8 x OptiPlex Microcomputers, 8 x Dell 27” monitors and a range of new furniture.
