Council's Microchipping Day a Resounding Success
Published on 26 June 2023
Leeton Shire Council is pleased to share the tremendous success of its Microchipping Day, held on Saturday 24 June 2023, at the Parkview Tennis Clubhouse. The event, aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring the safety of our beloved pets, saw a remarkable turnout with 66 dogs and cats being microchipped.
The Microchipping Day provided an opportunity for local pet owners to take a proactive step in safeguarding their pets. Microchipping is a simple and effective method of identification, enabling lost or stray animals to be easily reunited with their owners. The event not only emphasised the significance of microchipping but also served as a platform to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership.
Mayor Cr Tony Reneker, expressing his delight at the event's success, said, "We are thrilled with the overwhelming response from the community. The biannual Microchipping Day is a testament to Leeton Shire Council's commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring the welfare and safety of our pets. We greatly appreciate the support of all the pet owners who dropped in on the weekend and made it such a success."
The microchipping procedure was conducted by Council’s rangers who ensured that each pet received a unique identification microchip implant. Pet owners were also provided with valuable information on pet registration, responsible pet care, and the importance of keeping their contact details up to date.
