All Councils in NSW are required to annually set their level of fees for both Councillors and the Mayor.
In April this year, The Local Government Remuneration Tribunal (LGRT) released its Annual Report and Determination for 2022, detailing the minimum and maximum fees to be paid to councillors and mayors in New South Wales (NSW), for each category of Council for the period 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
The fees fixed by each council must be in the range determined by the LGRT and it is mandatory for the fees to be paid to the mayor and councillors.
At its June Ordinary Council meeting, Council resolved to fix the 2022/23 annual fees for the Mayor and Councillors at the same rate as the 2021/22 year, being no increase.
“It may be a small gesture to keep Councillor fees at last year’s level but as elected representatives we want to show our community that we are doing our bit to keep operational costs down,” said Council’s Mayor Tony Reneker.
