Call for Auditions: Be Part of Roxy Theatre’s Grand Opening Concert

Leeton’s historic Roxy Community Theatre is set to officially reopen in spectacular fashion with a grand concert event on 1 March 2025, celebrating its extraordinary legacy, redevelopment and future. The event promises to showcase performers from Leeton primarily in a dazzling display of music, dance, and storytelling. 

The Roxy operations team is now seeking experienced vocalists and instrumentalists/musicians to join the ensemble for this momentous occasion.

Manager Cultural Services Emma Di Muzio encourages Leetonians past and present to consider taking part and making history.

“This is your chance to take centre stage and contribute to an unforgettable evening that will leave a lasting legacy in the heart of our community and will mark the official launch of the redeveloped Roxy.

“We also welcome performers from the wider region who have had a strong association with Leeton and the Roxy Theatre,” she said.

Audition Details: 

• What to Prepare:
  Performers should prepare two contrasting songs that showcase their vocal ability, range, and unique qualities. A wide variety of vocal styles and ranges are encouraged. Vocal training or extensive performance experience will be viewed favourably. 
• Backing Tracks and Accompaniment:
  Performers are required to bring their own backing tracks, either via link (provided prior) or direct device (e.g., USB). Devices and an audio system with Bluetooth capability will be available for the auditions. Alternatively, performers are welcome to accompany themselves on an instrument of their choice. 
• How to Apply:
  Interested performers should submit their expressions of interest via the Roxy Theatre website at https://leeton.elementorg.com/public-pages/roxygo. Auditions will take place at the Roxy Community Theatre from 5pm on both Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January 2025.

Portfolio Lead for Arts & Culture, Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Kidd, said this is an opportunity not to be missed.

“This concert will be our community on show and officially herald in a new era at the Roxy. We encourage our talented singers, instrumentalists and musicians to come forward and join us in celebrating the Roxy Theatre’s grand rebirth,” he said.

The grand opening is scheduled for 1 March 2025.
