Considering standing for Council?

Leeton Shire Council is calling on the residents of Leeton Shire to actively participate in the local government elections held on 14 September 2024. This election offers a great opportunity for individuals to shape the future of the Leeton community by becoming a councillor.

Leeton Shire Council held an in-person Candidate Information Session with Emma Broomfield from Locale Learning on Sunday, 23 June 2024, to help equip potential candidates with critical information into the electoral process, learn about the expectations of councillors, as well as provide guidance, including effective communication of your candidacy intentions.

If you missed out on the session, an online Councillor Candidate Information Session ("Step into Civic Leadership with Confidence") was held on Wednesday, 17 July 2024. The recording of that session can be accessed here for free (simply register and follow the prompts), so that you can learn more about how local government works and what your job will be if you are elected. This online course supplements the in-person session and includes resources to help you make an informed and considered decision about standing in the election.
