Soft plastics include items such as plastic bags, bubble wrap, cling wrap, confectionary bags or wrappers and more. Soft plastics CANNOT be recycled in your kerbside recycling (yellow-lid) bin. They can however, be recycled in specifically designated soft plastics bins located at various local grocery stores.
The NSW Government’s ban on lightweight plastic bags came into effect on 1 June 2022. It is the first in a two-stage ban on single-use plastics in 2022 that will to help prevent almost 2.7 billion items of plastic litter from ending up in our NSW environment over the next 20 years.
